Glenanda Primary School recently said a heartfelt farewell to principal Graham King, marking the end of an extraordinary 35-year journey with the school.

King was honoured on July 31 as he brought his long and dedicated service to the school to a close.

For three and a half decades, he played an important role in the Glenanda Primary family, eventually serving as principal with distinction and commitment.

Twenty-nine years ago, King was appointed principal of Glenanda Primary. During his years in leadership, he helped shape the school and its learners through strong values and a clear belief in the importance of education.

He encouraged generations of learners to value respect, integrity, discipline and perseverance. He also inspired them to work towards excellence in all areas of school life, including academics, cultural activities and sport.

For King, being a principal was about more than managing a school. He believed in helping young people grow into responsible, respectful and caring individuals. His leadership focused not only on achievement, but also on developing good character and preparing learners for life beyond the classroom.

Acting principal Percy Human paid tribute to principal King. He said: “His 35 years of dedicated service have left a lasting mark on Glenanda Primary.

His leadership, care and commitment to our learners and staff have helped shape the school community, and his legacy will continue to inspire us for many years to come.”

Although the school community is sad to see him leave, his retirement is also a time to celebrate a remarkable career. Over 35 years, King touched countless lives and played a significant role in shaping the school’s history and identity.

Staff and learners expressed their gratitude for his loyal service, inspirational leadership and commitment to Glenanda Primary.

His influence will continue to be remembered by the many generations of learners and staff who had the opportunity to work with him.

As King begins his retirement, the Glenanda Primary community wishes him happiness, good health and many new adventures. While he will be greatly missed, the legacy he leaves behind will remain a proud part of Glenanda Primary for many years to come.
