Are you ignoring the truth?

The most important truth you’ve been ignoring is that your dreams have long been calling you, now it’s the time to pick up and answer the call.

“Then you will know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.” – John 8:32

I was reflecting on my life shortly after my 35th birthday, more than a decade ago. I realised that I had a BSc degree, national diploma in mechanical engineering, diploma in project management and few others and I was happy to a certain degree. But guess what? I couldn’t afford critical things like a life-coach, seminars, conferences, books on personal development, etc. I thought these were for people who had a lot of money and they were at the bottom of the list of my priorities.

My self-introspection made me realise that my priorities were wrong. This eye-opening realisation made me see that the very things I said I couldn’t afford were the very things that I couldn’t afford not to afford. It’s like seriously being pressed to go to the bathroom, but having to pay to use it, in this case, even if you have the last money, you’ll pay because the consequence of not paying for it would be dire. That’s how I look at things. Failure to understand the consequence of your action or inaction will lead you to say you can’t afford something. Ask yourself this question, “If I were to have this, what would the benefits be?” The answer will clearly tell you whether you can’t afford it or you can’t afford not to afford it. So, focus on the benefits and if they are worthy, you’ll find a way to afford it. Review your priorities and correct your past mistakes that have stolen your dreams.

The most important truth you’ve been ignoring is that your dreams have long been calling you, now it’s the time to pick up and answer the call.
