The journey to self-discovery

People and situations will come into your life to teach you something.

“Confidence is not ‘They will like me.’ Confidence is ‘I’ll be fine if they don’t.’ – Christina Grimme

Just because my path is different doesn’t mean I’m lost. Just because I like different things doesn’t mean something is wrong with me. When you step into the fire of self-discovery, guess what, it doesn’t burn you but shows you what you are not. This is the kind of thinking that I have adopted. Never ignore something that inspires you because that is the guide to self-discovery.

The journey to self-discovery brings confidence. It makes you open-minded to try new and different things. Some people say, “I don’t know my strengths and passions.”

Well, the two main reasons you feel this way are:

1. You haven’t tried enough things. It is a sign that you are stuck in a comfort zone. Go out there and ‘play’.

2. You don’t self-reflect. Take time to get out of yourself and watch yourself in action. Notice what you are drawn to – what inspires you. This you may find while watching lovers strolling in the park, kids playing, music playing in the playground, etc. Inspiration is everywhere.

The journey to self-discovery means that you have to get out of your own way. Some people get trapped in the perpetual state of accumulating things that later bring them misery. It’s very important to own things, but be careful that they don’t own you.

People and situations will come into your life to teach you something. Once that lesson has been taught, they immediately leave. The question you are left with though is, what exactly was this person and/or situation supposed to teach me? Until this lesson is learned, you will miss out on the opportunity to self-discovery. Your dreams are calling you.
