What is your definition of success?

Try to be in control of your life to reduce stress.

Do you know that up to 90% of doctors’ visits are due to stress-related problems? Stress results from the feeling that you are not in control of the situation. The nervous system loses homeostasis or the state of equilibrium.

The main responsibility of the nervous system is to maintain stability. Having an unattainable expectation sets you up for failure and makes you feel inadequate because you always fall short.

This continually makes you feel not in control in your life which in turn triggers the nervous system to release stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline. These hormones are not bad for short-term stress but when released continually, as in falling short every time, they become toxic and cause more damage to the cells in your brain and body.

Not being in control is more linked to your level of expectations in life. Your expectations are tied to your attitude and mind-set. So, having a wrong definition of success may trigger the brain to feel that you’re not good enough and worthy and unnecessarily release stress hormones. Remember, success is like beauty, it lies in the eyes of the beholder.

Here’s the question for clarity: Who influenced you to believe and define success the way you do? Is it really something achievable for you or you are busy chasing shadows?

Please, review your definition of success and you’ll see your stress levels drastically coming down.

As a NeuroEngineer, it is my responsibility to help you transform from mental darkness to mental light by helping understand the power of your brain and mind and rewire the way you think as it will help you unleash your brain power and become the higher version of yourself that you deserve to be.
