Councillor Chame wishes residents a prosperous 2020

Councillor Chame reflects on the success of 2019 and aims to continue serving the community in the new year.

As we go into the year with new resolutions and hopes of achieving greater goals, I wish Ward 57 residents a blessed and prosperous year.

The previous year had it’s ups and downs, but most importantly as a ward we survived the turbulence.

I can say it was a year we lived every day facing challenges head on and relishing in the opportunities they sometimes present.

I wish to reflect on successes of 2019 which included:

• The issuing of title deeds to beneficiaries who applied for housing in 1996. The City of Johannesburg Housing Department also managed to make sure the beneficiaries were given full ownership within a year of being allocated houses and I’m proud to say that I was part of this initiative.

• The building of speed humps at Outspan and Nephin roads.

• Grading of a power station in La Rochelle.

• Joburg water installing new security gates at the pump station and generator room and new underground pipes were installed in Risana; and

• South Hills Clinic received a revamp and was made bigger to accommodate all patients.

I appreciate the hard work done by members of my ward, stakeholders and various entities for working alongside me.

I want to thank SAPS, CPF, JMPD and local patrollers for keeping us safe.

Also, thank you yo educators for spending time with learners paving the way for their successes with them.
