In four weeks’ time I had to take both my granddaughters Christine (12), for sinus infection, and Kaylen (10), for a laceration, to the South Rand Hospital.
On arrival at the emergency, we were sent in directly. Four doctors attended to her. Christine’s eyes were swollen and her forehead was also starting to swell.
Within minutes she was placed on an antibiotic drip and blood count was taken. A couple minutes later a doctor came back and told us her blood count was very low. We had to get her to Joburg General Hospital immediately.
We went to Joburg General Hospital and she was admitted. Those doctors from South Rand Hospital saved her live if they didn’t respond so fast an efficient.
Recently Kaylen, who loves swimming, unfortunately got a bad cut in the pool resulting in us rushing through to South Rand Hospital. On arrival I got out with her in my arms and again all gates and doors were open and she was hurried in immediately.
Mom went to get her file, but by then three different doctors attended to her foot, cleaned it out to see how deep the cut was. She was administered drops against shock, and it was established that she needed stitches.
A female nurse attended to us to ask all relevant questions. As soon as her file came back, two male nurses attended to us to start stitching up her wound, with doctor explaining.
They were tender loving people. Ten stiches later, she was good to go. Shout out from us for the South Rand Hospital doctors and nurses, you guys are important and both experiences were great.
I commend the fast and effect experience at South Rand Hospital on both times.
Thanks to the staff, doctors and nurses who helped make these experiences felt like a picnic. One bad review doesn’t make all the shifts bad. Maybe we were lucky to get the same team four weeks apart. But honestly you guys stood by us and explained all so well.
You rock! Thanks a million for making these so easy and proper quick responses.
