Herbert Park open new season

New bowling season opens.

Perry Habib the longest Honorary member of Herbert Park Bowling Club was invited by Ronnie Bell, the President of the club to do the honour of opening the new bowling season by bowling the first wood.
Habib became a member in 1967 and has been with the club for 46 years. The club was first opened by JA de Beer, President of SABA in 1956 when it was known as the Southern Transvaal Printers Bowling Club.
Mr herbert, who owned the property, donated the property as a sports facility to the members in 1972 and in honour the club was renamed as Herbert Park Bowling Club. Dave and Yvonne Luxton joined in that year and are also hononary members.
Herbert Park is also the home of the KBB Moths Shell Hole, St Andrews Scottish Society and the “Onder Ons” Hollands Society and they have recently been joined by the Warlocks Motor Cycle Club.
The club also has a bowls day every Wednesday at 09:00 when a number of pensioners come to play an enjoyable game of bowls for R10 which includes tea and sandwiches.

Every Friday we have a lovely pub lunch at R25 per meal which can either be taken away or eaten at the bar with a beer or two. Orders for the pub lunch must be ordered by theWednesday before for catering purposes, on 011 683 7902.
Herbert Park Bowling Club has set a goal to revive the game of bowls and is invitng anyone who would like to play this very social sport, be they young or old. We can be contacted on011 683 7902. This is a sport for any age to enjoy.
