Full field to line up for lucrative event

Kenilworth racecourse has full line up.

AFTER Winter Star’s outstanding triumph a few weeks back in the high value Ready to Run Stakes held at Turffontein, the announcement of the full field and draw for the Cape edition now has expectant connections champing at the bit. The R2 million Lanzerac Ready to Run Stakes presented by CTS is scheduled for November 24 over 1 400m at Kenilworth.

The final field and barrier draw ceremony was conducted today at a stylish gathering in the new deli and wine tasting venue on the beautiful Lanzerac Hotel and Spa property. Owners and trainers mingled with industry professionals, savouring delectable treats and quality wines from the historic estate.

Expected hot favourite Red Ray drew eleven – obviously not ideal, but surmountable given his exceptional gate speed. After his romp in the Cape Classic, Red Ray shapes up as a formidable adversary for other hard pressed rivals.

Several form candidates were fortunate when positions were drawn. Brett Crawford’s recent eye-catching winner Captain America slots in at 4, with the promising Snaith runner, Arion jumping from pole position. Exelero, who was not disgraced in the Cape Classic three lengths adrift of Red Ray, starts from alley five with Antonius du Bois marginally on his inner at three.

Full field and barrier positions for the Lanzerac Ready to Run Stakes 23 November presented by Cape Thoroughbred Sales at Kenilworth Racecourse:

1 Red Ray 11; 2 Antonius Du Bois 3; 3 Captain’s Reserve 7; 4 Captain America 4; 5 Tribute To Kylie 8; 6 Arion 1; 7 Exelero 5; 8 Playingtheenemy 16; 9 Fort Bellini 18; 10 Rio Branco 10; 11 All About The Dash 14; 12 Reim 12; 13 Knysna Lagoon 13.
