Discovery Walter Sisulu Soccer Challenge now in its 12th year

DISCOVERY Walter Sisulu Soccer Challenge, now in its 12th year, plays an important role in developing soccer in our communities and uniting South Africans through physical activity.

This year’s event will take place from December 1 to 28 at the Nike Training Centre in Soweto.

Altogether 56 teams from in and around Soweto will participate in the event. Mondeor Meteors FC and Kaizer Chiefs teams are some of the clubs that will be in action over these weeks.

The draw took place on Wednesday November 12 to determine what teams will play against each other. These teams include women’s teams that will have a category of their own.

Discovery Walter Sisulu Soccer Challenge has become a breeding ground for the development of players. The event has produced players such as Thulani Serero, Oupa Manyisa and Edward Manqele and will once again produce more future stars.

In line with the goal of promoting well-being through physical activity, the event will also receive a bumper sponsor in 2014.
