Orlando Pirates marches on
Confederations Cup: Orlando Pirates through to the semi-finals.
PREMIER Soccer League (PSL) chief executive officer (CEO), Brand de Villiers, congratulated Orlando Pirates on reaching the semi-final stages of the CAF Confederations Cup.
Orlando Pirates, based in the South, marched to the last four phases of the Confederations Cup thanks to their gallant display this past weekend at the Orlando Stadium where they beat Congolese side, AC Leopards, 2-0 in what was a polished performance. Their victory on Saturday night, August 22, took the club one step closer to reaching the CAF Confederations Cup final.
“Orlando Pirates have done the PSL and the country proud during their CAF Confederations Cup campaign and we would like to congratulate their chairman, management, coaching staff under Eric Tinkler, the players and supporters for this great achievement. Of course there is still work to be done in the semis by the players but we also need to celebrate this moment and applaud their tenacity,” De Villiers said.
“As the League, we have always backed our clubs to do well in continental championships because the experience gained benefits not only them but also the country. We have to rally behind them to go all the way.”
