Cancer benefit from cricket

Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital will benefit from PinkDay.

IN a nail-biting finish, the Standard Bank Proteas rose to the PinkDay challenge by maintaining their unbeaten in pink winning streak at the recent Momentum One-Day International against India at the Bidvest Wanderers Stadium on February 10.

Adding to the success of the day and beating previous fund-raising efforts by almost triple, R1.7-million was raised for the new PinkDay beneficiary, the Breast Care Clinic at the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital. The PinkDay partnership between Cricket South Africa (CSA), Bidvest Wanderers and Momentum has raised millions of rands and saved countless lives by spreading the message that early detection saves lives.

A huge thank you must go out to fans, corporate contributors and players, as well as media houses and ambassadors who made a significant contribution to the fund-raising and success of PinkDay 2018.

ALL SMILES: It was all smiles when the cheque handover took place. Nkosinathi Mahlangu, CSI manager Momentum; Andra Nel, marketing and communications manager, Bidvest Wanders; Dr Sarah Nietz, head of Breast Care Clinic, CMJAH; and Clive Eksteen, head of commercial CSA at the handover.
