Johannesburg south resident on mission to get more people into Muay Thai
Katlego Ndhlovu wants Joburg south residents to learn Muay Thai and will give first-timers two free lessons.
Katlego ‘KG’ Ndhlovu, who hails from South Hills, is a Muay Thai fighter who started his fighting journey three years ago.
Muay Thai has taken him to get scouted in the sport in Thailand.
Muay Thai, also known as the science of eight limbs, is a Thai martial art and full-contact combat sport that uses stand-up striking, sweeps, and various clinching techniques.
The 1989 movie Kickboxer, starring Jean-Claude van Damme, features a character called Tong Po, a ruthless Muay Thai champion and the main antagonist of the film.
KG wants more people to learn about Muay Thai. “I started Gator Muay Thai, where I develop fighters and coaches. I am fortunate to have been scouted and gotten the opportunity to possibly travel to Asia, specifically in Thailand, where I may compete against the best Muay Thai fighters in the world.”

“Muay Thai teaches you self-defence tactics and endurance while keeping you fit,” said KG.
Muay Thai’s inclusion in the 2024 Olympic Games signals its rising global popularity.
“Muay Thai is like any other martial art. We punch, use knees, release cool kicks, and use elbows. It requires the whole body to move, exercising all its muscles,” added KG.
Joburg south residents willing to learn Muay Thai will receive two free lessons.
