Bassonia JKA dominates Provincial Karate Championship with 112 Medals

Dojo secures top honours at SAJKA Gauteng event as 33 karatekas qualify for Nationals and 62 athletes earn provincial colours.

Bassonia JKA showcased outstanding performance at one of the country’s most prestigious competitions, the SAJKA Gauteng Provincial Championship, boasting over 3 000 entries.

The dojo clinched an impressive haul of 32 gold, 20 silver, and 28 bronze medals – a total of 112 medals.

In addition, 33 karatekas, all ranking in the top eight, qualified and have been selected to represent the SAJKA Gauteng team at the upcoming National Championships in May.

These 62 exceptional performers will be proudly awarded the SAJKA Gauteng provincial colours.

Classes at Bassonia are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 16:15 to 19:45 under the expert guidance of senior instructors Sensei Bruce Smith (7th Dan) and Karyn Smith (6th Dan).

With offerings available for all ages, including a Dinky class for children aged four to six years, Bassonia provides top-tier training with a low instructor-to-student ratio, supported by 8 professional instructors certified in Level 1 first aid and Safe Guarding.
