Residents are invited to take part in the Place of Purpose Charity Walk on August 9 at Thaba Trails to support a life-changing initiative that equips young adults with intellectual disabilities for independent living.

Local residents are invited to lace up their walking shoes and take part in the Place of Purpose Charity Walk on August 9, starting at 09:00 at Thaba Trails.
The walk is more than a community event. It is a powerful step towards creating opportunity and inclusion for young adults living with intellectual disabilities.
Place of Purpose is a dedicated organisation focused on empowering young adults through programmes that build essential life skills. Its Daily Living Skills Programme and job-shadowing opportunities are designed to help participants gain independence, confidence, and the ability to lead meaningful lives.
Proceeds from the walk go directly towards supporting these initiatives, which teach critical everyday skills such as cooking, cleaning, and money management.
Residents can get involved by gathering family and friends to register for the walk, donating, volunteering their services, or sponsoring a participant. Spreading awareness through local networks and businesses is also encouraged.
“This is a chance to walk with purpose, to walk for inclusion,” said event organiser Gwen McKechnie. “These young adults often go unseen, but with the right support, they have so much to offer.”
To find out more, register, or get involved, visit www.placeofpurpose.co.za or email accounts@placeofpurpose.co.za. For sponsorships or corporate donations, contact Vanessa Meyer on 072 648 5727.
