The MTN8 is a premier South African football tournament featuring the top eight teams from the previous Premier Soccer League season. Known for its competitive matches, electrifying atmosphere and high stakes, the winner not only lifts the coveted trophy but also secures a place in the Nedbank Cup.
The semi-final second legs are set for August 23. The first, between Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, will be played at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville at 15:00. The second, between Sekhukhune United and Stellenbosch FC, will take place at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Limpopo.
Fans are eagerly anticipating the clashes, with Lekgwathi highlighting the community’s passion: “Since one of the semi-finals takes place in Johannesburg, we wanted to be involved with the community as we know how our people love soccer. The teams are also very loved in the south, especially Sundowns and Pirates.”
Carlse said the second semi-final should not be underestimated: “Sekhukhune versus Stellenbosch will also be a competitive encounter as both teams have a lot to prove.”
With promotions across the region and world-class facilities on offer, Joburg South has become a hub for MTN8 excitement and community engagement.
