Alberton MMA athlete gets chance at National Championships

Kristan Stander selected for Gauteng MMA Team for upcoming national showdown.

Mixed Martial Arts South Africa (MMA SA), the official governing body for MMA in the country, has announced that Kristian Stander from Alberton has been selected to represent the Gauteng Provincial MMA team at the South African National Championships.

The event will run from April 30 to May 3 in Vanderbijlpark.

MMA SA, a non-profit organisation recognised by SASCOC, is promoting the sport from amateur to professional levels.

Participation in the national championships requires significant financial commitment for entry fees, equipment, apparel, and medical clearances.

The federation is seeking sponsorship to support Kristian Stander and the team, aiming to help the athlete compete at the highest domestic level, qualify for national team selection, earn Protea colours, and potentially represent South Africa internationally.

Support would contribute to growing South African MMA and empowering rising athletes.
