Golden Gloves hosted an exclusive send-off for Johannesburg South boxing star Ricardo ‘Magic Man’ Malajika at OR Tambo International Airport on September 16, as he departed for Japan ahead of his WBC Super-Flyweight World Title fight on September 27.
The intimate event brought together Malajika and the Golden Gloves team before he leaves the country to represent South Africa on the international stage.
Malajika, one of the country’s leading fighters, will compete for the prestigious WBC Super-Flyweight World Title in Japan – a fight described as a significant moment for South African boxing.
Speaking at his send-off, Malajika said he was ready to make the country proud.
“I want to thank Golden Gloves, my family, my team and everyone from Joburg South who has supported me on this journey,” said Malajika. “This is not just my fight, it’s for South Africa. I have worked hard for this moment and I am going to Japan to bring the world title home.”
