City Power addresses issue of cellular network antennas
City Power provides more information on cellular network antenna initiative in Mulbarton and other areas.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – A statement from City Power was released to inform residents about the signal antennas which were spotted in some areas in the south.
“As you are probably by now aware, City Power has partnered with the mobile telephone network companies to provide access to a number of City Power street light poles to enable them to upgrade cellphone and broadband network coverage throughout the City,” said the statement.
“Many residents throughout Johannesburg often experience areas where their cellphone signal fails because of weak signal coverage. City Power therefore decided to afford an opportunity to the cellphone companies to strengthen their networks and to enable them, at the same time, to deal with the increase in telephone demand and the need for the City of Johannesburg residents to have access to improved cellphone network coverage.
“As part of this project, the mobile network companies will remove the existing lamp poles in agreed, identified positions and replace them with poles that are able to carry the cellphone antennas as well as the street light fitting. The companies will also be building a base station next to the pole in order to power the antenna.
“This exercise will ensure improved cellular network coverage in the area for the benefit of citizens.
“Please contact your ward councillor, who is part of this process, if you have any queries or concerns relating to this project. For any clarities or queries, send an email to talktocitypower@citypower.co.za.”
