GOLD Reef City has a star-studded entertainment line-up at The Lyric Theatre which is not to be missed.
Sans Moonsamy is The Love Guru
The Love Guru is the latest comedic offering from Sans Moonsamy and comes to The Lyric at Gold Reef City on June 19, tickets from R165.
The story begins with the biggest love conference in the world, taking place right next door to Vishnoo’s Karaoke Klub. Vishnoo, played by Moonsamy, quickly identifies an opportunity to attract people to his venue. He concocts a love potion cocktail, as a marketing gimmick to woo customers to his venue, but mistakenly drinks it himself. He then starts falling in love with his only staff member, the multipurpose worker Thembisani, resulting in hilarious consequences.
Thembisani is played by the talented Kerusha Kisten. Kisten is a former international beauty queen who won the Miss India Globe title in 2010. Since then, she has been a top ten finalist on the Top Billings Presenter Search and she has written and performed a few live shows.
The show also features zany characters (all played by Moonsamy and Kisten) such as Nicky Maharaj, the crazy cheating girlfriend, Guru Deepa aka The Lust Guru, Willie Ray Virus, Bonga Dube, Deepak Shakur.
Audience participation is what sets The Love Guru apart as Aunty Deepa will be bringing certain audience members on stage and discussing their issues…live. With many other surprises on stage, The Love Guru is a little bit rude, bold and daring, but with no swearing.
Ndumiso Lindi brings new show
South African comedian Ndumiso Lindi will bring lots of laughter to The Lyric at Gold Reef City, on Saturday, July 25, tickets range from R165 to R350.
His second one-man show, Diluted People, follows on the success of his first, Colour Mine. The new show offers an intimate look at Lindi’s life story, infused with his infectious, feel-good sense of humour. He is an expert at capturing characters and moments directly from life around him, and sketching himself for the amusement of his fans.
Diluted People promises to be a roller coaster ride through this talented young man’s mind, offering hysterical takes on traditional values, family, culture shock, democracy and current affairs.
