Metro buses are a big headache

Mothers should not be out in the cold because of the metro buses.

As parents, we have had such bad services with the metro buses. We leave work between 16:00 and 16:30 for the buses to only arrive at 17:30 or 18:00 at the latest.

Recently I had to phone my husband to come and fetch me from the Gandhi Square at 17:45, while waiting for a bus that was supposed to take me to Mondeor.

Nonetheless, if the bus does arrive, we all have to be squashed in with people travelling to Chrisville, because the bus is a single decker. The metro bus department has no shame. On top of it, there is a new tariff from Wednesday, July 1, but we have not seen any improvement in the system.

My reason for this complaint is that I doubt very much that the new buses promised to commuters will ever become a reality. The department should just close its doors because their drivers are also very rude and have no clue what customer service is all about.

In fact, many mothers use these buses and, as mothers, we need to arrive home in time to cook and help the children with school work. We really need some relief

Metrobus has a severe challenge in terms of fleet availability at present, meaning we do not have enough buses to operate all trips on our schedules. A tender for 150 new buses was advertised early 2014 and awarded. The first 25 buses will definitely be arriving at the end of June 2015.

We apologise to all our commuters for the inadequate service at present.
