Fun and games at Eikenhof Women’s Institute

The next meeting is on Wednesday, June 12, at 9.30am in the hall of St Andrew's Anglican Church, Sudieroord.

EIKENHOF Women’s Institute held its Mini Show day and fun auction on Wednesday, May 15, and the members all enjoyed a wonderful morning.

Judge for the Mini Show day, Dot Sutton, was impressed with the items entered, which included bottled goods, baked cakes and scones, knitted squares and card making.

Points winners for the year’s competitions were announced, with Yvonne Fagan in first place, Marjorie Lattimer, second, and Jean Ross, third.

The winners for points over 1 500 awarded over a period of time were Linda Payne, Bronwyn Du Plessis, Evelyn Onderstal, Margaret Whitley, Sue Atkinson and Jean Ross.

The fun auction, as usual, was just that – fun! Members wrapped up a small gift and donated it to the auction. The ‘auctioneer’, who this time was Marjorie Lattimer, started off the bidding at R1, aiming to get the most money for each gift for WI funds. “Do I have any other bids on R3.50? Sold to Margaret Whitley for R5!”
