Mondeor CPF: know your neighborhood tips

"Try not to park visitor vehicles on the street and make sure your vehicle is locked and all security devices working."

The Mondeor Community Police Forum (CPF) would like residents to take note of the following.

• Early morning hijackings/home invasions – be mindful when leaving home and check your surroundings. It is recommend you reverse into your driveway or garage. There was an attempted early morning hijacking on September 22 in Glenvista around 7am.

• Theft of vehicles, especially over weekends from retail or leisure destinations, is a concern especially if you are driving a high-risk vehicle such as VW Polo, Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux or Fortuner. Try not to park visitor vehicles on the street and make sure your vehicle is locked and all security devices working.

• There has been an increases in house robberies in the Kibler Park area, especially in the afternoons and early evenings.

• The precinct has also recorded several street robberies and people are encouraged to walk in groups and also when drawing money from ATMs.

The CPF continually works with SAPS and security to address crime challenges and put appropriate policing responses in place.

• Push your panic button if you are contracted to the armed reaction

• Call SAPS telephonically on 071 675 7327 or 10111.

• If you have a smartphone you can also request SAPS through applications such as Namola and MySAPS app.
