Five injured after taxi crash into store

Hydraulic tools were used to free the man from the crashed taxi.

On May 27, Netcare 911 responded to a collision on the corners of Garland Street and Booysens Road in Ophirton.
Shawn Herbst from Netcare 911 said reports indicated that the driver of a mini-bus taxi lost control, crashing into a store.

“On assessment medics found the driver had sustained moderate injuries and was entrapped in the vehicle. Four other people had also sustained moderate injuries in the crash. Netcare 911 with Fire Ops used hydraulic tools to free the man from the twisted metal. Once stabilised all the patients were transported to the hospital for further care,” explained Herbst.
