YWP’s Yajna takes second princess to Miss India SA
YELLOWWOOD Park beauty Yajna Debideen (19) was crowned second princess at the Miss India South Africa pageant on Saturday, 7 September.
Yajna, along with 19 other finalists spent a week at the Pavilion Hotel in rehearsals and workshops preparing for the main event. “I was so excited to meet new beautiful faces as well as the friendly and familiar faces of contestants from the regional pageant. The organisers outdid themselves by making the pageant not only exciting and well organised, but making the experience a memorable one,” said Yajna.
The young women were also given a talk by the owner of South African Woman’s Forte and were taught among other things, proper etiquette and behaviour. “I would recommend the pageant to young women. It changes you and your outlook in life for the better. It builds confidence and self-esteem. You make wonderful friends. You learn so many new skills. It gives you the platform to showcase your talent, voice your opinion and make a difference in society.”
“Having won Miss India South Africa KZN and being crowned second princess in Miss India South Africa, my goal is now to complete my reign by serving my country.” Yajna won best talent, Miss Photogenic and best groomed awards in the pageants.
She plans to be involved in various charity programmes and events including teaching underprivileged children how to read and write as well as dance. As part of her prize for winning Miss India South Africa KZN, Yajna will jet off to India for three weeks in December. She thanks her support team who have guided her and given her advice along the way.
