Helping Paws need help

HELPING Paws, a Bluff-run organisation providing food and care for animals in low income areas, calls for public assistance.

The group of volunteers distributes food in the Umbogintwini township every Saturday with money they raise themselves. Started in November 2011, they hand out a minimum of 120kg of dog food every week and do vaccinations against infectious diseases. They also take sick animals to their vet for treatment and return them to their owners the following week.

A collection trolley has been placed at the Bluff Spar, Bluff Road. Community members are urged to donate food by either buying at the Spar and leaving it in the collection trolley or by dropping off food at the Wakefields office (42 Lighthouse Road) during office hours. Call Adele on 084-575-0131 or Kay on 072-119-7350 or 031-466-3231 or email kay@wakefields.co.za for home collections. Empty bread packets in which to store the food are also in need.
