SDCEA hosts meeting for new strategy

THE South Durban Environmental Alliance (SDCEA) hosts a public meeting on Wednesday, 27 November to develop a non-toxic, post-carbon strategy for South Durban.

“The climate crisis due to the United Nations COP19s irresponsibility; BRICS promoting unsustainable urbanisation and the area being under attack from truckers and oil companies are the three major catastrophes creating the perfect storm in South Durban,” said SDCEA co-ordinator, Desmond D’Sa.

At the meeting, SDCEA will launch its campaigns to challenge these issues and set the stage for a new, non-toxic, post-carbon strategy for South Durbans genuine sustainable development. This will include the possibility of financial sanctions against corporations deemed to be harming the community and the wider BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa).

The meeting, which takes place at the John Dunn Home in Wentworth from 4 to 6pm, is open to the plan, but seats are limited. Call 031-461-1991 to reserve a place.
