Southern Hills group members ‘beetle’ along

A great time was by the 23 members from the four institutes the Southern Hills group of women’s institutes.

A GREAT time was by the 23 members from the four institutes within the Southern Hills group of Women’s Institutes at the group meeting hosted by Yellowwood Park Evening Institute and held at Yellowwood Park Bowling Club on Monday, 25 November.

YWP president and past group executive Vanessa Wilesmith welcomed all to the meeting, and said how nice it was to have them there.

She introduced the ‘top table’, comprising newly-elected group executive Maureen Lavis, also newly-elected treasurer Denise Morgan and Yvonne Munro (group secretary), as also the other members of her executive committee, Martha Hart (treasurer) and Wendy Henderson (treasurer). Apologies were recorded, and the Marty Stewart Collect recited, and YWPEI was thanked for hosting the meeting.

Birthday girls from YWP for the current month up to January 2014 were congratulated and presented with pens. YWP members who work at the Outspan, Botanic Gardens, newly opened Thornhill House, and meals on wheels were thanked.

Two lots of raffle prizes were drawn, and just about everyone present drew a prize. After a sumptuous tea, the ‘beetle drive’ took place, with a great deal of fun and laughter. Eventually Wendy Henderson won the overall prize, while most of the other participants ended up with suckers. A great evening was had by all, and ended with the women’s institute prayer.

Southern Hills members wish all other institute members in the federation a blessed Christmas and happy, healthy New Year.
