Alcohol related arrests spike as holidays arrive
AS the festive season kicks into gear, Brighton Beach SAP warns the public that alcohol-related crimes will be dealt with strongly, as more than 76 people have already been arrested.
Since the execution of the national strategy for the festive season 2013/14, Brighton Beach SAP has charged 76 people for alcohol-related crimes, including drinking and driving; illegal trade in alcohol and drunkenness in public.
As they enter the second phase of the strategy, visibility of police officials will increase with road blocks and vehicle check points and foot, vehicle and motorbike patrols at places of interest. The public is urged to co-operate when stopped at road blocks and vehicle check points and drivers should ensure they have the necessary documentation on hand at all times.
All road users are warned not to use public roads while under the influence of alcohol or banned substances. Metro Police, RTI officials, detective services and support service members trained under the Police Act will be out in force to create a safe environment for residents and visitors to the Brighton Beach policing area.
