Hijack syndicate bust in Montclair
Five stolen vehicles were recovered on two residential properties in Montclair on Thursday, 9 January.
Members of the Provincial Task Team received a tip-off linking a syndicate of hijackers to a house in Harbour View Road. On arrival, task team members found three stolen vehicles and arrested a man who was in the house.
The man then led Montclair SAP’s W/O Sathasivan Naidoo to a house in Endsfield Road where two more vehicles were recovered and another man arrested. The two men, who are in their 20s were charged with hijacking and theft of motor vehicle. They appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 13 January where bail was opposed and the men were remanded at Montclair SAP for further investigation.
Montclair SAP’s communications officer, Lt Leopold Jojozi said the men intended to sell the vehicles on auction. The vehicles were stolen in different parts of Durban and hidden in Montclair. More arrests are imminent.
