Animal shelter hopes need help
Animal lover, Chantelle Lynch's passion for animals saw her take to social media to help her furry friends have a better life.

What started off as Facebook and BBM groups, has now grown in leaps and bounds, with an animal shelter on the cards. The group Furry Friends began as a way of assisting Chantelle with the cats and dogs she had adopted.
“I have always had a passion for animals. I was really encouraged to start the work through a puppy rescue which took place in November on the Bluff. I was with the puppy throughout the whole incident and made sure it was looked after,” said Chantelle. Community members rescued the pup after it had been stuck in a pipe for four hours.
Through this life-changing event, Chantelle had the desire to open an animal shelter. A house in Seaview has been donated to her to start the shelter. “A member of the community gave me permission to use the house free of charge, but it needs to be renovated. Once it is complete, we will start operations. There is already a waiting list,” she said.
Chantelle appeals to community members to help her prepare the house for the animals. Paint, electronic gate and outside walls are some of the things needed to make the shelter operational. Anyone willing to assist with the project can call Chantelle on 071-513-4105
