Beetles drive again at YWP WI

The minutes were read and Wendy gave the finance report.

YELLOWWOOD Park Women’s Institute (WI) president, Vanessa Wilesmith opened the Yellowwood Park Women’s Institute (WI) meeting with the WI prayer.

Members remembered Cynthia McFarland and thoughts are with Wendy Henderson’s daughter Robin in Australia.

Despite it being a public holiday, most members were present.

The minutes were read and Wendy gave the finance report and advised that all federation fees have been paid and most of the subs for the year.

There was also an invitation to the Woodlands WI 53rd birthday party. The annual leaflets are now on sale at a cost of R5 each, thanks to Wendy Henderson and her daughter Sally Anne Goodwin for typing and printing. Once again WI volunteers were on duty at Botanic Gardens, Meals on Wheels and doing craft work at the Outspan Residential Home, which has suddenly increased in numbers so anymore volunteers would be appreciated for a couple of hours one Monday of the month. A thank you letter from Outspan was also received.

Next month the competitions will be forwarded to the WI’s own residential home, Evelyn House in Richmond. The members in the Hobbies Club need extra wool and so on to make the hobbies. YWP WI needs seedlings and face cloths with a bar of soap at the next meeting.

After tea and cake, members had great fun with the beetle drive on Sunday, 4 May. Yellowwood Park WI had a table at the Kombat fair at Woodlands Sports Club, which was very successful. Many thanks to all who assisted at the table. The raffles were drawn and birthday girls of the month greeted.
