Hostel committee to help curb crime

"The community of SJ Smith are welcome to report crime. They must assist the police by reporting incidents or if they witness a crime."

IN an effort to curb crime a committee has been formed at SJ Smith hostel.
The committee conists of nine people.

Forming the committee is a result of high incidents of crime at the hostel and surrounding areas. It was agreed at the committee’s first meeting in December that shebeens should close at 9pm. “Police will do regular patrols at the hostel to ensure shebeens are closed at the closing time,” said Lt Leopold Jojozi.
“The community of SJ Smith are welcome to report crime. They must assist the police by reporting incidents or if they witness a crime,” said Jojozi.

Ntobeko Nyawose is the secretary of SJ Smith hostel committee. “We are happy the committee has been formed. This will help address community issues. The committee will work closely with police to reduce crime,” said Nyawose.
