Mitty takes helm at Wanderers

The 63-year-old would also like to change the demographics of the club. “We would like to encourage the young to join the club."

MITTY Chelin was appointed chairman of Durban Wanderers Club as of 1 May at the club’s recent AGM.

Chelin takes the reigns from Eric Redman who has decided to retire.
“I’ve enjoyed my time on the committee and I’ve made life-long friends,” said Redman.
Chelin has been part of Durban Wanderers Club for 25 years. He has served as the club’s vice-chairman for three years.

Speaking on his appointment chairman, Chelin said: “The club needs to change with the times. I would like to see more people joining the club, the tavern to open and more functions being held at the club,” he said.
The new chairman says the club is a social platform to meet members of the community. “We also have a talented committee and existing members can help the club grow,” he said.

The 63-year-old would also like to change the demographics of the club. “We would like to encourage the young to join the club. People between the ages of 18 and 25 years of age can join the club at the pensioner’s rate of R120 per year,” he said.

Besides being part of Durban Wanderers, Chelin enjoys fishing in his spare time. If anyone wants to join the club, contact Mitty on 083-286-2071.
