Secondhand dealers must register with police

Register to reduce crime.

BRIGHTON Beach SAPS calls for all secondhand goods dealers to register with the local police station to ensure a reduction in criminal activities.

As per the Secondhand Goods (SHG) Act, all secondhand goods dealers and recyclers must be registered at their local police station.

“This public information is provided with the intention to source community involvement and co-operation from the business sector to eradicate the criminal elements within our communities by reporting those who engage in criminal activities. Together we achieve more,” said Brighton Beach SAPS communications officer, Captain Louise Le Roux.

The SAPS 601 – Application for Registration as a Second-Hand Goods Dealer/Recycler form can be found at all police stations, along with a list of the required accompanying documents.
