Gardeners to get creative with festive decor ideas
The speaker, Denese Koch from Wildlife and Environmental Society of South Africa Treasure Beach branch, gave an interesting show, tell and explain talk on a wide variety of alien specimens.
NATALIA Garden Club’s final meeting for the year will take place on Tuesday, 10 November.
There will be no sales table, plant competitions or door and raffle prizes.
Instead, keen members are asked to take along self-made hanging for a Christmas tree decoration. First, second and third prize will be awarded for the best work. Each member is asked to take a plate of snacks. Members will not pay at the door, but a donation is welcome for the car guard. Bubbly and musical entertainer Belinda will keep feet tapping for the morning. Members are asked to return raffle lists for the Christmas cake draw.
There was a wonderful display of beauty plants for viewing at tea time at the October meeting.
Points were awarded to the following members:
Decorative (a foliage arrangement): Marlene Jones 81/2, Alma Botha 8, Karolina Kotze and Eryl Devine 7.
Cultural (air plants): Karolina Kotze and Alma Marshal 10, Beryl Smale and Jeanne Buitendag 91/2.
Best bloom: Monica Auguste, Akma Botha and Lettie van Jaarsveld 10, Beryl Smale and Daphne du Plessis 91/2.
Best orchid: Jeanette Nienaber and Yusimi Zayas 10, Nora Brown, Karolina Kotze 91/2, Nora Brown 81/2.
From my garden (all scored 10 points): Jeanne Buitendag, Bev Beard, Nora Brown, Russell Jones, Karolina Kotze and Joyce Huygens.

Through her talk, gardeners were able to identify many alien and invasive plants on the Bluff and surrounding areas. The club thanks her sincerely for making her talk so informative. After an inspiring morning, president Karolina concluded the meeting with a practical idea for a perfect garden.
