House robber gets 15 years

The house robber was linked to other crimes

A HOUSE robber felt the hand of justice on Monday, 18 January when he received 15 years’ imprisonment sentence for crimes committed in Montclair.

The 23-year-old was arrested along with three other accomplices on 14 November.

Two weeks before the arrest the four men who were travelling in a white Nissan bakkie, robbed a home in Bredell Place, stealing a TV and other items. Later on members of the Montclair Community Crime Patrol (MCCP) saw them driving through Yellowwood Park.

Montclair SAPS were alerted and while they were on their way, the MCCP members followed the robbers to Shoprite where they were arrested.

Detective W/O Rico Naidoo managed to link the 23- year- old to other robberies.

Communication officer, W/O Poobalan Marimuthu commended W/O Naidoo for the good work in securing the successful conviction and hoped this would send a message to any criminal or would-be criminal that crime does not pay.
