Rock cocaine stash seized from motorist

85 pieces of rock cocaine were wrapped individually, ready for sale.

A MAN was caught with 85 pieces of suspected rock cocaine on Wednesday, 28 December.

Wentworth SAPS members were on duty when they received information about a man driving a white bakkie, believed to be carrying a large amount of drugs.

According to the informant, the man was travelling from Chatsworth to Merebank. The members spotted the described vehicle driving on Dinapur Road. When they stopped the vehicle, the police officers saw the driver place a grey plastic packet under the dashboard.

Upon investigation, the plastic was retrieved and opened. It contained 85 pieces of rock cocaine wrapped individually, ready for sale.

The driver was arrested and remanded to Westville prison until Monday, 9 January when he will appear in Wentworth Court.
