Trio spend Christmas in jail

"Different number plates were also found inside the car.

THREE men spent Christmas in jail after they were caught in a stop and search with unlicensed firearms and live ammunition on Himalayas Road, Merebank.

Members of the Umlazi K9 unit were patrolling in Merebank when they conducted a stop and search on a vehicle carrying three men.

The driver and passenger were searched and two of them were found with unlicensed firearms in their possession. The third man was found with live ammunition. All three were taken to Wentworth SAPS station to be charged with possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

“Different number plates were also found inside the car. The men were remanded in custody for seven days, spending Christmas together in jail,” added communication officer, Cpt Mbuso Gumede.
