Stainbank WI taps its toes thanks to TAFTA Revellers

STAINBANK Women’s Institute (WI) president Arlene Greenfield opened the meeting with a big welcome to all members, visitors and the special entertainers.
Members were sad to hear of the death of Desiree Viviers, a long-time member.
Apologies were received from Shirley Kruger, Marsha Hart and Hazel Demo. The WI’s thoughts are with Shirley and judge Hazel Demo who had a fall.
There was no correspondence and the previous minutes were signed but all were happy to hear from the treasurer that the funds were all in order.
It seems a number of members are to become great grandmothers. The charity supported was Salvation Army. Many thanks to all members for their assistance at the birthday party, which contributed to its great success.
The outing to the Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) was well attended by members and was informative. Stainbank WI will meet again on 26 July to visit the Umgeni Bird Park. Members are to be at the civic centre by 9.30am. The president read out the report from Federation regarding the Congress competitions, if anyone wishes to enter.
After tea it was on with the show. If members cannot do tea duty they are to make arrangements for another member to take their place as there was a shortage of snacks for the visitors.
The TAFTA Revellers were absolutely amazing – what energy and enthusiasm they had. The calibre of the show put on by these pensioners meant they must have practised for ages. Thank you to them for such a great show. Best wishes to the birthday members and those celebrating wedding anniversaries. The vice president read out the winners of the money board, swindle, R40 club and the raffles.
Linda then read out the competition results. Many thanks to May Scott for judging. Best wishes to Hazel, who everyone hopes to see soon. The president closed the meeting with the Mary Stewart Collect. The next meeting will be on the first Tuesday of the month, which all are welcome to attend.

Total and overall winner: Koulla Tsouris.
The judge remarked that it would be good to see other members entering the competitions.
