On Wednesday morning, 26 June, competitors will take to the green for the Grand Rapid Spur any pairs competition.

A BUSY week lies ahead for bowlers at Wentworth Bowling Club (WBC).
On Wednesday morning, 26 June, competitors will take to the green for the Grand Rapid Spur any pairs competition. Thursday morning, 27 June, sees the club hosting the hungry hoard who participate in the monthly breakfast trips and on Friday, 28 June, the weekly Tomasina men’s casual bowls will be held. The monthly Grand Rapid Spur Big Jim will take place on Sunday morning, 30 June. All games start at 9am. Congratulations to Ben Newton, Moses Nuba and Luvuyo Ndava, who won their section in the Port Natal trips competition played on Sunday, 23 June, and have earned the right to participate in the play offs on Saturday, 29 June. Best bowling wishes are extended to the Wentworth team in their endeavour to move forward in the competition.
The committee and members of WBC extend sincere condolences to Lily Miller after the passing of her husband, Eric. Eric was a steadfast member of the club for many years and his move was effected by the family’s relocation. A funeral service for Eric will be held at the Umhlanga Baptist Church on Tuesday, 25 June at 11am.
Members are reminded of the club’s annual July day on Saturday, 6 July. The theme for the event this year is ‘stars of Africa’ and members and visitors are invited to dress accordingly and come dazzling and sparkling. Book early for the pre-race champagne breakfast by phoning Fred on 082-396-3503. Bowls is a game in which the whole family can enjoy a competitive outdoor activity and Wentworth Bowling Club extends an invitation to families in the community to try their hand at the game. The club also offers affordable, tasty meals prepared by Fred’s Kitchen. This service is open to the public and diners need not be club members to enjoy the delicious fare.
