CROW successfully releases a majestic Cape Gannet

On Friday, with the assistance from Lynski Fishing Charters Durban, CROW released the Gannet back into the wild where he belongs.

The Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) recently released a Cape Gannet that was collected from the Amanzimtoti SPCA a few weeks ago.

“He was unable to move or stand and was incredibly weak. We suspected that he may have Botulism after his x-rays showed that there were no hooks or fractures that may have caused his symptoms. We immediately started oral fluid therapy and treated him with activated charcoal tablets to absorb the toxins causing his paralysis. He showed remarkable progress and was ready to be released,” said CROW communications officer Lana Bartholomew.

On Friday, with the assistance from Lynski Fishing Charters Durban, CROW released the Gannet back into the wild where he belongs. “Thank you again, Brad, for helping us with this release. Thank you to Amanzimtoti SPCA for assisting us and caring for him until we arrived,” thanked Lana.

CROW treats indigenous wildlife free of charge, relying solely on the support of the community. If you would like to donate where it is most needed, follow the link below. https://crowkzn.co.za/other-ways-to-give/
