Montclair SAPS: How can we be of better service to you?

Montclair police recently launched their suggestion box pilot project to afford the community a chance to voice their opinions.

IN an effort to improve service delivery and address public concerns, the local men and women in blue of Montclair police, recently launched their suggestion box pilot project to afford the community a chance to voice their opinions.

The marked box can be found at the station’s charge room and forms can be found next to the box or requested from an officer in charge. “Any complaints or suggestions found in the box will be logged in an official register, given a serial number and a meeting will be arranged with the station commander, station management and the Montclair Community Policing Forum (CPF) committee, to work on a way forward regarding the complaints or suggestions received,” explained Montclair police spokesperson, captain Derek Vijiam.

The proactive approach will be rolled out nationally across all stations and is aimed at offering the community an opportunity to air out their views, suggestions, complaints or any other information they deem necessary for the police station’s administration. Feedback from the public will also be beneficial to the station towards the improvement of certain services such as the certifying of documents and the filling out affidavits. Community members have already made use of this service and Vijiam is appealing to all the visitors at the station to do the same.

Station commander Colonel Vorster reminds the public that he has an open door policy and wants to work with the community in the fight against crime in Montclair. Vijiam also urges community members to join the local CPF group as a means of decreasing the persistent crime in the area by contacting Montclair CPF chairman Aaron Nyadi on 083-690-0226. Any queries on the suggestion box may be directed to Vijiam on 031-469-8212 or 079-500-1252.
