PICTURES: Bluff community donates to Bark Angel

The Bluff CPF, Justice Kennels and members of the community raised funds in excess of R7 000 which were donated together with much-needed dog food.

PUPS at Bark Angel Rescue and Rehabilitation are continuously being showered with love by the Bluff community and on Thursday, 31 October, it was the local CPF’s turn. There were tons of smiles and wagging tails at the rescue home for dogs on the day. The Bluff CPF, Justice Kennels and members of the community raised funds in excess of R7 000 which were donated together with much-needed dog food.

Bronwyn Shawell, member of the dog training group at Justice Kennels said they are all about canines and jumped at extending a hand to Bark Angel. “When we heard about the tragic and senseless loss of life and the subsequent abandonment of dogs, it wasn’t even a question for Justice Kennels members to step forward and help out. We are passionate not only about dogs but our community as well,” she said.

Founder of Bark Angel, Debbie Moss, said most of the funds raised were to help the 15 pooches that they adopted after the tragic murder of their owner, Delores Ireland. “All the dogs and pups were inoculated and sterilised by us and most have already found fabulous new families. We have always had a great relationship with both the Bluff CPF and Justice Kennels and both have supported us in every way possible over the past years,” said Debbie.

She added that the donation would go towards their vet and care account. “Another thank you to Hills and Brighton Beach Veterinary Clinic for the wonderful donation of doggie pebbles to help us get these pooches healthy and ready for new homes. Our thanks also go out to the members of our community who so kindly donated bags of dog food. We appreciate the kindness and generosity of everyone who made this donation possible,” she said.
