Bluff Ratepayers Association questions distribution of food vouchers [LETTER]

It would appear that the distribution of the vouchers has been haphazard and to some extent politically orientated.

EDITOR – The Bluff Ratepayers Association (BRA) has received queries from needy residents regarding the distribution of food vouchers.
In terms of eThekwini Municipality’s allocation of vouchers, each ward received 1 000 vouchers to the value of R670 which could be redeemed at Pick n Pay.
“While the BRA appreciates that it is impossible to reach all those in need of food assistance, it would appear that the distribution of the vouchers has been haphazard and to some extent politically orientated,” said BRA chairperson, Ivor Aylward.
“The names and details of recipients of vouchers are supposed to be recorded. In the interests of transparency, the BRA would like to review those records, so as to clarify the validity of the complaints it has received,” said Aylward.
Issued on behalf of Ivor Aylward by Duncan Du Bois,
Vice chair BRA
