Fireworks should be banned [LETTER]
I now dread certain times of the year because we know what is coming.
EDITOR – I’m, looking for assistance from our respective councillors.
Would it be possible to put forward a motion to powers that be to have fireworks banned same as Cape Town has done? These bomb explosions that are actually banned in residential areas cause us and our animals much distress/suffering year after year yet nothing is done about it. It is very simple to have a celebration without having our areas sound like a war zone.
What pleasure is derived from this and it has the animals running for cover. Why should we be subjected to this three times a year, it is absolutely unnecessary. I now dread certain times of the year because we know what is coming, it starts early afternoon 31 December and continues on until early hours of 1 January.
It does not matter how much calming medication we may give, that does not stop animals from hearing and being terrified of loud bangs. It would be nice just for once this year to be able to actually go out and not have to stay home to look after terrified animals. Assistance will be appreciated in this regard.
