Bluff community rally to support the needy [LETTER]

We love our community and patrons.

EDITOR – They say charity begins at home. I can attest to that as a member of the Mudpie Crafty Cronies and the Bluff, Wentworth, Austerville, Chartsworth, Montclair, Yellowwood Park and numerous other areas in close proximity to the Bluff, are definitely a most charitable community.
To this we thank one and all for your unfailing support and opening of your hearts and wallets to assist those in need. We love our community and patrons.
At the onset of Covid-19, Crafty Cronies as a group had to stop meeting, yet through social media and word of mouth saw a number of appeals for assistance to which we had amazing results. In tallying the number of items we have received, handmade or shop bought we have been able to pass forward in excess of 5 000 items.
• Through 67 blankets for Mandela directed to King Edward Hospital, prem beanies, booties, mittens and blankets for the neonatal ICU unit.
• Rainbows and Smiles – support for children with cancer, beanies and teddy bears.
• Tent City South Africa, Southbroom, an informal settlement – blankets, teddy bears, beanies, scarves and a big amount of dry goods to assist in the feeding scheme. Special thanks to the Fynnland Baptist Church for its donation.
• Westville Hospital also received prem beanies, booties, mittens and blankets for the neonatal ICU unit.
• Blankets for the 67 blankets for Mandela ‘bokke blanket’.
• BMW Supertech Pinetown staff – teddy bears for Santa shoe box drive.
• Care bags which include a couple of personal hygiene products and a teddy bear for a house of safety.
At this time and into the first quarter of 2021 we are continuing to collect teddy bears, baby blankets, beanies and scarves for all ages, and knitted or crocheted squares which will be made into blankets for Winter.
A big thank you to The Mudpie Crafty Cronies and patrons and my extended family of The Mudpie Company for your continued generosity. Look forward to continuing our charity work.
