Effectiveness as a ward councillor depends entirely on the councillor [LETTER]

The DA councillor elected in 2016 abandoned it without completing his term.

EDITOR – The appeal to “keep ward 66 DA,” as if the DA owns the ward, is arrogant and presumptuous, particularly in the light of the fact that the DA councillor elected in 2016 abandoned it without completing his term.

The only reason the DA makes this appeal is to maintain its numbers in the council and its ratio of representation on Exco. Also because its losses in the recent by-elections were in part the result of under performing councillors.

Effectiveness as a ward councillor depends entirely on the councillor, not the party, because it is about personal initiative, endeavor and application.
