Duo leads people to next level fitness with boot camp

Aimed at uplifting others, the group's 'be alpha' mindset inspired them to start the free boot camp at Ansteys Beach every Saturday.

SEASONED athletes will tell you that the challenges one goes through during exercising have a way of mimicking life.

The greatest of the greats often talk about consistency and pushing boundaries as their one-upmanship advantage.

This is no different for 25-year-old, Denzil Young and Aston Barrett. Determined to uplift others, their ‘be alpha’ mindset prompted them to offer free boot camp sessions at Ansteys Beach every Saturday.

“I am motivated by the change and encouragement that I hope exercising will bring,” said Denzil. “I believe it demands a level of discipline and persistence that is necessary and can be used in everyday life.”

While the idea was sparked by Aston who is a personal trainer, what the NextLevelFitness boot camp needed next was help and funding.

Although still in its infancy stages, Denzil decided to use his start-up clothing company to partner with his friend. To raise funds, they sell the branded T-shirts and inject the cash back into the boot camp.

Asked why their sessions are free, the duo said, “We would like to have young people and most, if not all, of them are either unemployed or still in school, thus we want nothing to stop them from coming, especially not finances. The reception of the sessions has been really amazing, people have been showing up and really giving it their all.”

They said they owe the success of their endeavour to their families’ support as even the smallest act has helped in pushing them forward.

“It’s by them advertising for us and just getting the word out there about what I do. Also by them constantly trying to get orders for products and merchandise and to grow the brand and get more BeAlpha branded clothing such as pants and socks.”

The goal is to have consistency from the individuals with us, I believe that to see real change, consistency is imperative.”

“We would like to also get other companies to support us in getting more equipment and for us to eventually have our own mobile gym, with training mats, ankle weights, arm weights, resistance bands, skipping ropes, ab wheels, portable pull up bars and exercise balls.”

If you’re ready to challenge your own fitness and take it to the next level, join the NextLevelFitness boot camp. The group meets every Saturday at Ansteys Beach from 6am to 7am.
