Montclair clean-up campaign clears walkway bush
Residents pulled up their sleeves to volunteer their time at a clean-up on Crozier, Jagger and Anleno roads in Montclair.
IN an act of solidarity, residents pulled up their sleeves to volunteer their time at a clean-up on Crozier Road in Montclair.
The group then moved to the corner of Jagger and Anleno roads where more work was put in.
The Saturday, 19 June event was organised by the ward 64 branch of the ANC and was supported by the municipality’s Parks Department.
Simphiwe Mzimba chairperson of the ANC and the Youth League in ward 64 said the campaign is meant to benefit many.
“We decided to meet up at a walkway on Crozier Road in Montclair where our people walkthrough as a shortcut to Blamey Road. Our intention was to clear up the bush and make it more accessible to them.”
“This will also assist in warding away criminals who use the area as a way to mug unsuspecting passers. For these reasons, we felt the need to pull our sleeves up and lend a hand. We also requested the municipality to fix street lights on the walkway to ensure that people feel safe when it gets dark,” he said.
