Bringing flowers and family fun to Bluff

Nestled at the Wentworth Bowling Club, the Englebrecht family has been working long and hard to build to turn a previously vacant piece of land into a beautiful nursery tea garden and children’s play area.

A LITTLE sanctuary is in full bloom on the Bluff in time for Spring. Nestled at the Wentworth Bowling Club, the Englebrecht family has been working long and hard to build to turn a previously vacant piece of land into a beautiful nursery tea garden and children’s play area.

The new project, Wildflower Nursery, has been a family effort with Ben, his wife Daniella, their four sons and pet dog got their hands dirty to get it up and running in time for the official opening to the public on Wednesday, September 1.

“There is nothing for families on the Bluff except the beach. There aren’t many options or activities to do with your children, especially for most middle-class families. All of the fun things to do, require money or to travel out of the area. A lot of people don’t have that money to spend. So that is what inspired us to make use of this vacant area to create a tea garden, nursery and family entertainment zone.

“We have animals here which many children have probably never seen before. These include a variety of birds, budgies, ducks and quails, which were previously our pets. But we decided to bring the whole Avery over to share with other people while they enjoy their tea, coffee or lunch in the garden. While mom buys flowers, the children can play in the safe and fenced off educational play park area, which is still under construction and should be complete at the end of September. We’re excited about this as there is nothing like this on the Bluff for our children,” said the father of four boys.

Although a small fee will be required for the upkeep of the area, Ben said the initiative is not centred around making money but was his family’s dream to share their love for plants and flowers in a meaningful way.
